1. FORUM WALLIS COMPOSER'S ACADEMY 2019


Das Festival für Neue Musik Forum Wallis schreibt für 2019 eine Akademie für Komponisten aus. Im Rahmen der Akademie werden mindestens 5 Werke für kleine und mittlere kammermusikalische Besetzungen exemplarisch und praxisorientiert in Bezug auf ihre Herausforderungen, Problematiken und Potentiale besprochen, einstudiert und aufgeführt. Als Kursleiter sind international ausgewiesene Komponisten, Dirigenten und Musiker vor Ort. Das Repertoire der Forum Wallis Composer's Academy kontextualisiert das Neue Musik-Ensemble anhand von spezifischen Auftragswerken und Improvisations-konzepten neu. An den Konzerten der Akademie beteiligen sich unter anderem Manuel Mengis, Hanspeter Pfammatter, UMS 'n JIP, Julian Sartorius sowie das deutsche Ensemble für Neue Musik Zafraan Berlin unter der musikalischen Leitung von Fabian Panisello und Miguel Pérez Iñesta (Einstudierungsassistenz) und der künstlerischen Leitung von Erik Oña.

MUSIKALISCHE LEITUNG

Fabián Panisello, Argentinian-Spanish composer and conductor, is internationally knonw on the contemporary music stage for the high quality of his work. In the words of Karlheinz Stockhausen: “full of ideas, intense and bursting with energy (…) I am very happy to see that the spirit of Webern continues to live in a changed world”. Fabián is the director and founder of PluralEnsemble and director of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía and the Instituto Internacional de Música de Cámara in Madrid. He was formed as a composer with Francisco Kröpfl and Julio Viera in Buenos Aires and with Bogusław Schaeffer in the Mozarteum in Salzburg (Diploma of Excellence, 1993). He completed his formation with Elliott Carter, Franco Donatoni, Brian Ferneyhough, Luis de Pablo and Peter Eötvös, among others, and he has been awarded prizes such as the Mozarts Erben of the city of Salzburg or the Premio Iberoamericano de Composición Rodolfo Halffter. He is a member of the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes of Argentina. His chamber opera Le Malentendu has been premiered to critical and public acclaim: “we are surely in the presence of the best premiere of new opera in the Teatro Real in a long time” (Tomás Marco); “Panisello possesses a very special talent for the stage, creating an exciting theatre with magnificent music” (Peter Eötvos). Le Malentendu was coproduced between the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires, Warsaw Autumn Festival, Neue Oper Wien and the Teatros del Canal and Teatro Real in Madrid. Fabián is currently working on the Multimedia Musical Theatre Les Rois Mages, in an international coproduction, commissioned by the Ernest von Siemens Music Foundation through the Centro Superior de Investigación y Promoción de la Música and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid Fonudation. He has also received commissions for the National Orchestra of Spain, Festival de Donaueschingen, Ensemble Modern, Goethe Institut, Orchestra of the Community of Madrid, BBVA Foundation, Italian Institute of Culture, Alte Oper of Frankfurt, Secretariat of Culture of Buenos Aires, or Festival Takefu of Japan, among others. His work has been recognized and supported by personalities such as Pierre Boulez, Luciano Berio or Karlheinz Stockhausen, having collaborated in two world premieres of the latter with the orchestras of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk of Cologne and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester of Berlin; and his works have been performed by artists such as Pierre Boulez, Peter Eötvos, Susanna Mälkki, Leigh Melrose, Allison Bell, Marco Blaauw or Francesco D’Orazio, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester of Berlin, Orchestra of the Mozarteum of Salzburg, Orquesta Nacional de España or Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Arditti Quartet and Ensemble Modern, amongst many others. He participates in the principal festivals of the world dedicated to contemporary music, such as Wien Modern, Munich Biennale, Présences, Ars Musica, Ultraschall, Aspekte, Manca or Klangspuren Schwaz; and he has recently been invited as conductor and resident composer at the Sound Ways Festival of Saint Petersburg, the New Music Week Festival of Shanghai, the Festival Manca in Nice, the Centro Nacional de las Artes (CENART) of Mexico, the Master of the Fundación Baremboim-Said, the Bridges Festival of the Vienna Konzerthaus or the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum in Salzburg, amongst others. His discography includes recordings for NEOS, Col legno, Cypres, Verso or Columna Música, amongst others. ASSISTENZ EINSTUDIERUNG

Miguel Pérez Iñesta studied piano, clarinet and dance in Asturias, Spain, before moving to Berlin in 2003, where he continued his studies with clarinetist and conductor Prof. Karl Heinz Steffens at the Hanns Eisler Musikhochschule. Between 2005 and 2007 Miguel was a member of the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic. In 2008 he founded his own new music ensemble, Zafraan Ensemble, where he is currently part of the Artistic Direction team. He has conducted in France, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Norway and has been engaged as assistant musical director at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Theater Basel and the Staatsoper Berlin for different opera productions. His work with stage directors like Sabrina Hölzer, Matthias Rebstock, Iñigo Giner Miranda or Daniel Pfluger has contributed to open even more his view of music as a very expressive and accurate communication tool. Miguel returns every year to the Podium Festival Esslingen, where he always proposes his novel and refreshing personal view on the works he conducts. In the last few festival editions, he has been working on space and listening experience, recontextualizing the pieces played by changing the place they are presented in, encouraging the audience to move or even making the sound source (the musicians) move around/among the audience, following different patterns and turning the concert into a 360 degrees experience. He made his conducting debut at the Pierre Boulez Saal in 2017. Over the next season, conducting engagements will include his debut with the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich.

KONZEPT

Erik Oña. Geboren 1961 in Córdoba, Argentinien. Musikstudium an der Staatlichen Universität in La Plata, Argentinien und an der State University of New York in Buffalo, USA. Er erhielt zahlreiche Preise, Stipendien und Aufträge, u.a. 1991 Forum '91 mit dem Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, De Ijsbreker, Nieuw Ensemble, Stuttgarter Oper, Hannoveraner Tage für Neue Musik, Europäischer Musikmonat (Basel 2001), Ensemble Intercontemporain. 1998 Stipendium des IRCAM in Paris. 1998/2000/2001 Stipendium des ZKM. 1995/96 Stipendium der Akademie Schloss Solitude. Als Dirigent erarbeitete er zunächst traditionelles Repertoire mit verschiedenen argentinischen Orchestern. Später konzentrierte er sich auf Neue Musik. 1990-93 war er Dirigent am CEOB (Zentrum für experimentelle Oper und Ballett), Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires. Zusätzlich dirigierte er verschiedene Neue Musik Ensembles wie zum Beispiel Sinfonieta Omega und Chamber Ensemble of the Goethe Institut. Ab 1993 dirigierte er auch in den Vereinigten Staaten und in Europa, unter anderem: June in Buffalo chamber ensemble, JIB Brass Ensemble, The Instrumental Factor, New York New Music Ensemble, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Kammer Ensemble Neue Musik Berlin, Champ D'action (Belgien), Ensemble Resonanz, Darmstadt Ferienkurse für Neue Musik und Warschau Herbst. Bis jetzt hat er über 150 Werke uraufgeführt, von Kammerensemble Stücken bis zu Opern. 1994-96 war er Dirigent des Ensembles für zeitgenössische Musik an der State University of New York at Buffalo. Seit 1996 ist er ständiger Dirigent des Thürmchen Ensembles. Er ist Gründer und Direktor des Zentrums für weiterführende Studien der zeitgenössischen Musik in Buenos Aires. Von 1989 bis 1993 war er Professor für Komposition und Orchestrierung an der Staatlichen Universität in La Plata. 1995 Gastprofessor für Komposition und Computermusik am Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo. 1995-2001 unterrichtete er Komposition an der Universität in Buffalo/USA. Bis 2003 unterrichtete er Komposition und dirigierte das Ensemble für zeitgenössische Musik an der Birmingham University, UK. Zur Zeit unterrichtet er Komposition und ist Leiter des Elektronischen Studios der Hochschule für Musik an der Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel, Schweiz.
